2023 - Expansion prompts UK data centre move

15 years on, we leave Teledata and move our UK servers to a brand new purpose built facility with Equinix. More connectivity, more room to grow, and more power efficient: improving our services and reducing our environmental impact.

2023 - Jelastic becomes Enscale

Our Jelastic PaaS is rebranded as Enscale.

2016 - Node.js now available on our Managed VPS services

Up to now, Layershift focused firmly on fully managed services. WizzVPS saw the introduction of a self-service no-frills unmanaged VPS service, available in the UK and USA.

2008 - Expansion prompts UK data centre move

Our existing UK facility (IFL2) was unable to support our growth, so we moved to a new facility: Teledata.

2006 - Gained Platinum Partner status with SWsoft

Forging deep relationships with SWsoft (Plesk and Virtuozzo developers) enabled us to deliver the best quality solutions and hosting innovations.

2006 - Growing up: Layershift Limited is born

Things got serious now that Andrew and Damien were both graduating from university, prompting the incorporation as a UK limited company.

2004 - UK expansion and VPS launch

The UK hosting market was still in its infancy; we expanded our shared hosting to UK based servers, and introduced (revolutionary) containerised VPS hosting.

2001 - A hosting provider is born

Damien needed a more advanced hosting service for his hobby website; Andrew was starting one. Their combined forces led them to offer ‘Shared Hosting’ services from Texas, USA.

I was looking for a managed VPS to host my personal websites. Choosing Layershift, I found much more. A partner who really seeks the well-being of its customers.

Whenever I need to contact support, I always get extremely fast and efficient answers. They go beyond merely managing my VPS, by diagnosing possible code problems. Layershift monitoring is always vigilant and has even been able to detect security flaws in one of my systems.

Today I have 5 VPS's at Layershift, and several Enscale instances too. I'm now hosting professional apps and I know they're safe and well-monitored. I hope to have the opportunity to work on even more ambitious projects with Layershift!
